Job Description
Are you a keen observer of trends, passionate about consumer culture, and skilled at spotting the next big thing from the comfort of your home? Unilever is seeking a proactive and insightful Virtual Brand Scout to join our innovative team. In this 100% remote role, you will be instrumental in identifying nascent trends, emerging brands, and shifts in consumer preferences across various categories relevant to our global portfolio. Your findings will directly inform product development, marketing strategies, and brand positioning, helping us maintain our leadership in the fast-evolving consumer goods landscape. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a curious mind and an analytical approach to make a significant impact from anywhere in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor online and offline sources (social media, blogs, forums, news, retail environments, etc.) to identify emerging consumer trends, lifestyle shifts, and cultural phenomena.
- Scout for new and upcoming brands, disruptive startups, and innovative products across Unilever's categories (e.g., beauty, food, home care).
- Analyze competitor activities and market dynamics to identify potential threats and opportunities.
- Prepare concise reports and presentations summarizing key findings, insights, and recommendations for various internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with marketing, R&D, and brand teams to ensure discovered trends are actionable and integrated into strategic planning.
- Maintain an organized database of identified trends, brands, and relevant data points.
- Participate in regular virtual team meetings to share insights and discuss market observations.
Required Skills
- Exceptional observation skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in using social media and online research tools for trend identification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
