Job Description
XPO Logistics is seeking a dedicated and reliable Warehouse Box Truck Driver for our Bloomington, Indiana facility. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday during day shifts, ensuring a consistent schedule and work-life balance. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods between our warehouse and various client locations using a box truck. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety regulations, and excellent customer service as you represent XPO Logistics on the road. You will also assist with loading and unloading as needed, ensuring all deliveries are accurate and timely.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck (non-CDL required) for local and regional deliveries.
- Transport goods and materials between XPO Logistics facilities and customer sites.
- Load and unload freight as required, using appropriate equipment and following safety protocols.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods, obtaining necessary signatures and documentation.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery records.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers.
- Assist with general warehouse duties during non-driving periods, if needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and cargo area.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license.
- Clean driving record for at least the past three years.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Proficiency in operating a box truck.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle checks.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of commercial driving experience, preferably with box trucks.
- Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Knowledge of local delivery routes in the Bloomington and surrounding Indiana areas.
