Job Description

Trillium Health Partners is looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Hospital Orderlies. This entry-level position is perfect for those with no prior experience in healthcare, offering comprehensive training and a supportive environment to learn and grow. As an Orderly, you will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients, contributing directly to the efficient operation of our hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience and become an integral part of our patient care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and comfortably to and from various departments, including diagnostic imaging, operating rooms, and patient rooms, using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
- Assist nursing staff with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility needs, ensuring proper body mechanics and patient safety.
- Deliver and retrieve equipment and supplies throughout the hospital, maintaining appropriate inventory levels in designated areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient care areas, equipment, and supply rooms, following established infection control protocols.
- Respond to patient calls and requests in a timely and compassionate manner, escalating concerns to nursing staff as necessary.
- Provide basic assistance to patients, such as orienting them to their surroundings and offering comfort measures.
- Document patient transport activities and other relevant information accurately.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift, push, pull, and stand for extended periods.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team.
- Basic literacy skills to read and understand instructions and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare setting or customer service role.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
