Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Rotating Equipment team in Houston. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate or an engineer with limited experience who is eager to develop specialized expertise in the design, analysis, and maintenance of rotating machinery. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers, contributing to critical projects involving turbines, compressors, pumps, and other related equipment for various industrial applications, primarily within the energy sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within a leading global energy technology company.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, analysis, and selection of rotating equipment components and systems.
- Support the preparation of technical specifications, data sheets, and equipment requisitions.
- Participate in performance testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of rotating machinery issues.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of maintenance strategies and procedures for rotating equipment.
- Conduct basic engineering calculations and simulations using industry-standard software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, manufacturing, and field services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of engineering designs, calculations, and test results.
- Adhere to all company safety standards and quality procedures.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance rotating equipment expertise.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or co-op experience in a related industrial setting, particularly with rotating equipment.
- Basic understanding of vibration analysis or stress analysis principles.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., API, ASME).
- Experience with engineering simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS).
