Job Description

Seton Healthcare Family is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals for the role of Behavioral Health Caregiver. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. As a Behavioral Health Caregiver, you will provide essential support and care to individuals facing behavioral and mental health challenges, fostering a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. This role is crucial in promoting the dignity, independence, and overall well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mealtime support, and mobility.
- Monitor and document patient behavior, mood, and physical condition, reporting changes to supervisory staff.
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and engage patients in therapeutic activities.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients.
- Facilitate group activities and encourage patient participation.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and patient care plans.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Participate in all required training and ongoing professional development sessions.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR/First Aid certification
- Previous volunteer experience in a caregiving, social work, or healthcare setting
- Understanding of basic mental health concepts
- Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Spanish)
