Job Description

Seton Healthcare Family is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals for the role of Behavioral Health Caregiver. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. As a Behavioral Health Caregiver, you will provide essential support and care to individuals facing behavioral and mental health challenges, fostering a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. This role is crucial in promoting the dignity, independence, and overall well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mealtime support, and mobility.
  • Monitor and document patient behavior, mood, and physical condition, reporting changes to supervisory staff.
  • Provide emotional support, companionship, and engage patients in therapeutic activities.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients.
  • Facilitate group activities and encourage patient participation.
  • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and patient care plans.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Participate in all required training and ongoing professional development sessions.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic healthcare environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR/First Aid certification
  • Previous volunteer experience in a caregiving, social work, or healthcare setting
  • Understanding of basic mental health concepts
  • Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Spanish)
