Job Description
The Google Summer Trainee Engineering Program (STEP) is a 10-12 week internship for first and second-year university students with a passion for technology. This program offers a unique opportunity to work on real-world projects, gain hands-on experience, and be mentored by experienced Google engineers. STEP aims to introduce students to Google’s culture and technology, enhancing their skills and preparing them for future careers in software engineering. Interns will contribute to impactful projects across various Google products and services, working in a collaborative team environment. This paid internship focuses on providing a challenging and rewarding experience, fostering growth and learning for aspiring software developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a small team of software engineers on a project designed for STEP interns.
- Write, test, and deploy high-quality code in a fast-paced environment.
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
- Learn about software development methodologies, tools, and processes at Google.
- Present project progress and findings to mentors and team members.
- Actively engage in professional development workshops and networking events.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, graduating in 2026 or 2027.
- Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, JavaScript).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) or mobile development (Android/iOS).
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Participation in coding competitions or personal technical projects.
- Demonstrated interest in Google technologies and products.
