Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and diligent Internal Hospital Courier to join our essential team at Sunderland Royal Hospital. This vital role involves the timely and secure transportation of various items throughout the hospital campus, ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative functions. You will be responsible for moving medical records, laboratory specimens, equipment, supplies, and other critical materials between departments. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and safety standards within a busy healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport medical records, patient samples, laboratory specimens, pharmacy items, and confidential documents between hospital departments.
- Deliver and collect medical equipment, supplies, and other materials as required, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines, especially regarding the transportation of sensitive or hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries and collections, ensuring all items are accounted for and delivered to the correct recipient.
- Communicate effectively with hospital staff across various departments to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
- Assist with the organization and tidiness of storage areas related to courier activities.
- Perform routine checks on any equipment used for transportation (e.g., trolleys, carts).
- Report any issues or discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
