Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Remote IT Outage Dispatcher to join our fast-paced operations team. This critical role involves monitoring IT systems, identifying service disruptions, and efficiently dispatching technical teams to resolve outages. You will be the central point of contact during IT incidents, requiring excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a strong problem-solving aptitude. This is a shift-work position, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, crucial for ensuring 24/7 service availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor IT infrastructure and applications for service disruptions and performance issues.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for incoming outage reports and alerts.
  • Accurately diagnose the nature and scope of IT outages.
  • Prioritize incidents based on severity and business impact.
  • Dispatch appropriate technical teams (on-site or remote) and resources to resolve outages promptly.
  • Communicate outage status and resolution progress to stakeholders and affected departments.
  • Maintain detailed records of all incidents, actions taken, and resolution steps in ticketing systems.
  • Follow established protocols and escalation procedures during critical incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with various IT teams to ensure timely resolution and minimize downtime.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews to identify root causes and improve future response strategies.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure concepts (networks, servers, applications).
  • Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a dispatch, help desk, or IT support role.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework concepts.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes.
