Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cloud Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our dynamic team. This is a fully remote role within the UK, offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud infrastructure projects for a variety of clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions on GCP. You will work closely with architects, developers, and operations teams to ensure best practices are followed and our cloud environments meet business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Automate deployment and management of GCP resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
- Monitor GCP environments for performance, cost optimization, and security compliance.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate cloud services into application architectures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices for GCP environments.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical incident response as required.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer with significant focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong understanding of core GCP services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, VPC, Cloud IAM, BigQuery, Pub/Sub).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build).
- Solid scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of networking concepts within a cloud environment (VPC, VPN, Firewall rules).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer certification or other relevant GCP certifications.
- Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Stackdriver (Cloud Monitoring) and Grafana.
- Understanding of database technologies (relational and NoSQL).
