Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Referee Assistants to support our youth sports leagues on weekends. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals passionate about sports and working with children. As a Referee Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring fair play, supporting game officials, and maintaining a positive experience for young athletes and their families. This role involves weekend day work, primarily Saturdays and/or Sundays, and offers a flexible schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead referees with game management and enforcement of rules for various youth sports (e.g., soccer, basketball, baseball).
- Monitor player safety and report any concerns or incidents to the lead official or supervisor.
- Help maintain accurate game scores and timekeeping.
- Set up and take down equipment as needed before and after games.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with players, coaches, parents, and other staff.
- Promote a positive and encouraging environment for all participants.
- Attend all required training sessions and meetings.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for youth sports and recreation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and coaches.
- Reliable and punctual, with availability for weekend shifts.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move actively for extended periods outdoors.
- Basic understanding of sports rules (training will be provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience participating in or officiating youth sports.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
