Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Referee Assistants to support our youth sports leagues on weekends. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals passionate about sports and working with children. As a Referee Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring fair play, supporting game officials, and maintaining a positive experience for young athletes and their families. This role involves weekend day work, primarily Saturdays and/or Sundays, and offers a flexible schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead referees with game management and enforcement of rules for various youth sports (e.g., soccer, basketball, baseball).
  • Monitor player safety and report any concerns or incidents to the lead official or supervisor.
  • Help maintain accurate game scores and timekeeping.
  • Set up and take down equipment as needed before and after games.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with players, coaches, parents, and other staff.
  • Promote a positive and encouraging environment for all participants.
  • Attend all required training sessions and meetings.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for youth sports and recreation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and coaches.
  • Reliable and punctual, with availability for weekend shifts.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move actively for extended periods outdoors.
  • Basic understanding of sports rules (training will be provided).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience participating in or officiating youth sports.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
