Job Description

Are you passionate about the timeless craft of film photography and eager to learn the intricate art of darkroom processing? Prairie Light Photography is seeking a motivated Darkroom & Film Processing Intern to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for an aspiring photographer or enthusiast to gain hands-on experience in a professional darkroom environment. You will work alongside experienced photographers, learning everything from chemical mixing and film development to print making and archival techniques. This internship offers invaluable practical skills and insights into the world of analog photography.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of darkroom equipment and chemicals.
  • Learn and practice safe handling and mixing of photographic chemicals.
  • Develop various film formats (35mm, medium format) under supervision.
  • Participate in the printing of black and white photographs using traditional enlargers.
  • Help with basic quality control and inspection of processed films and prints.
  • Support the organization and inventory of darkroom supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the darkroom space.
  • Document processes and assist with archival tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest and passion for film photography and analog processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.
