Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Foley Artist with a focus on film and television projects to join our creative team in Cincinnati. This role demands a keen ear for detail, a deep understanding of sound design principles, and the ability to craft compelling and realistic sound effects to enhance visual narratives. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, bringing innovative solutions and a strong work ethic to every production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform live recording of Foley sound effects (footsteps, props, movements, etc.) to picture, perfectly synchronizing with on-screen action.
  • Source, prepare, and maintain a diverse range of props and surfaces to create authentic sounds.
  • Collaborate closely with Sound Designers, Editors, and Directors to understand the creative vision and specific audio requirements for projects.
  • Edit and clean recorded Foley tracks to ensure high quality and seamless integration into the final mix.
  • Organize and archive Foley assets for future use and maintain sound libraries.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Foley stage equipment, including microphones, recording devices, and playback systems.
  • Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and technologies in Foley and sound design.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Foley Artist or Sound Editor in film and television post-production.
  • Exceptional rhythmic timing and improvisation skills.
  • Strong understanding of microphone techniques and audio recording principles.
  • Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools.
  • Ability to creatively solve sound challenges and contribute to the narrative through sound.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Physical dexterity and stamina for extended periods of performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Film Production, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with sound library management and metadata tagging.
  • Familiarity with various film genres and their specific sound design conventions.
  • Portfolio showcasing a range of Foley work on completed film or TV projects.
