Job Description
Are you ready to kickstart a rewarding career with a global leader? FedEx is seeking a dedicated Tire Technician to join our High Speed Service team. This entry-level position comes with full training provided, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals with mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic, regardless of prior experience. As a Tire Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our extensive vehicle fleet, ensuring our operations run smoothly and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of vehicle tires for various types of FedEx equipment.
- Mount, dismount, balance, and rotate tires according to manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
- Identify and diagnose tire-related issues, including wear patterns, punctures, and structural damage.
- Operate specialized tire service equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of tire service, including dates, mileage, and parts used.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to ensure efficient workflow.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a fleet maintenance or automotive repair environment (tire service specifically is a plus, but not required with full training).
- Familiarity with DOT regulations pertaining to commercial vehicle tires.
- Certification from an automotive or technical trade school.
