Job Description

Join our dedicated team as a Hospital Concierge Porter, specializing in VIP Guest Management, at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter. In this pivotal role, you will be the welcoming face for our VIP patients and their families, ensuring their comfort, safety, and a seamless experience throughout their stay. You will provide essential portering services while upholding the highest standards of hospitality and discretion. This role requires exceptional communication skills, empathy, and a proactive approach to service delivery in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and professional welcome to all VIP patients and their visitors.
  • Assist VIP guests with luggage, personal belongings, and mobility needs upon arrival and departure.
  • Escort VIP patients and their families to various departments, clinics, and rooms within the hospital.
  • Manage and coordinate transportation for VIP guests as required.
  • Handle inquiries and provide accurate information regarding hospital services, facilities, and visiting hours.
  • Liaise closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient flow and communication.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion regarding patient information.
  • Ensure VIP waiting areas and common spaces are clean, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Proactively anticipate and respond to the needs of VIP guests, offering assistance with a positive attitude.
  • Assist with general portering duties as needed, including moving equipment, supplies, and specimens.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in a customer service or hospitality role (at least 1 year).
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in demanding situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform portering duties, including lifting and moving.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and communication.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection (GDPR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hotel concierge role.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of local area amenities and transportation options.
  • Proficiency in additional languages.
