Job Description

Join Providence Health & Services as a Patient Information Coordinator with a strong Customer Service Focus. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for many patients and their families, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience from the moment they interact with our system. You will manage patient records, schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and provide clear, empathetic communication regarding services and policies. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a genuine desire to serve others, upholding Providence’s mission of compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, both in person and over the phone.
  • Accurately register new patients and update existing patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments, ensuring efficient clinic flow.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and inform patients of any financial responsibilities.
  • Process referrals and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Resolve patient inquiries and concerns with empathy and efficiency, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts and electronic health records with precision.
  • Collaborate effectively with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care coordination.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate demeanor.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.
